Growing up to 4m, this magnificent native fern, which is often mistaken for a tree fern due to its size, is normally common in apape forests ( Rhus taitensis ) and mara forests ( Neonauclea forsteri ). Its uses by the ancients were both food, medicinal and ornamental.
